Thunderground is an underground community and movement focusing on the promotion of specific personal values including open-mindedness, self-assertion, non-conformity, fairness, and tolerance in a world where the desire for acceptance, popularity, and superficial materialism commonly override such values. The purpose of Thunderground is to promote these values in an attempt to enlighten people toward a more meaningful and dignified way of life.
Thunderground is heavily intertwined with the music industry and primarily uses this form of media to promote its values. Various recording artists, songs, music videos, and other aspects of the music industry are used as examples of decent and indecent material by presenting facts and applying objective analytic reasoning. Other forms of entertainment and global issues are also discussed and analyzed by the Thunderground community, but its primary focus encompasses the music industry in general, including all classifications of mainstream, midstream, and underground.
The term "Thunderground" is derived from the phrase "the underground," a genre in music and other forms of media that is often characterized by its high levels of originality and experimentation, and does not conform to typical standards, trends, or hypes as set by the popular mainstream media.
