Thunderground Logo
This has been a long time coming. I had been conceptualizing a new Thunderground logo since the later half of 2005, but it wasn't until early this year that it finally took a shape that I liked. This is THE logo. This is the logo you'll see replacing "Feminem: Queen of the Mainstream" in the left corner of the screen. This is the logo that will represent Feminem.com in future years, unofficially starting now, and digging its roots in towards the end of the year. "The Prime Example" is at an end... now it's Thunderground's time.

The Definition:  Obviously, the word "Thunderground" itself is derived from "The Underground", as this website has always been in league with the true values of an underground movement. First created in 2002 as a small project for a college course, it evolved into the business under which Feminem.com/Essix.net merchandise was sold. From there, it now evolves into a representation of this entire website, merging TGround.com, Essix.net, and Feminem.com into one supersite.

The Symbols:  The logo itself is composed of two important pieces: the Thunderground text, and the symbol that falls beneath it. The most obvious of translations would interpret that symbol to be a lightning bolt. This ties in with the "Thunder" aspect of the logo, as lightning causes thunder. But take a deeper look... "Ground" hasn't been omitted in this representation, in fact, it has been fully incorporated in that exact same symbol. Take a look at the top of the "lightning bolt." Arched like a horizon, like the ground! Beneath that is not a lightning bolt, but a fissure, a crack in the ground, exposing *gasp* The Underground!

The Colors:  Blue was chosen for the Thunderground text to represent on a few levels. First, because it's essentially a dark rain cloud (water being blue) with a lightning bolt protruding underneath. Secondly, it represents the sky above the ground in the fissure interpretation. The symbol beneath ranges from a deep orange to a yellow-orange, obviously for the heat of a lightning bolt, but also for the Earth's internal heat deep beneath the CRUST. Could also be the fiery passions of the underground movements and the cold-hearted reactions of the mainstream... or however else you wish to interpret it.
